Framing consists or all the structural support involve in you construction. Framing is separate from the foundation and there are specific framing inspections. A sub contractor in Texas does no require a specialty framing license. Framing will include whatever wood or metal support is required for the building.
The process would be as follows. The plans provided by the architect and engineer would indicate the details of the building framing. The general contractor would supervise the framing sub contractor and ensure that all the framing follows the plans. Any work such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, security, insulation etc, needs to be coordinated with the framing sub contractor to ensure efficiency and no reduplication of work. Once the framing is in place an insulation inspection will need to occur and any requirements with fire blocking per code need to be inspected as well. Sheet rock placement and inspection will occur after all work is completed and inspected within the walls.
The hardest part of the framing process is not the construction but the coordination. In many cases 3-4 sub contractors will have to be coordinated in a step wise fashion to get the job done. This coordination is done by the general contractor.
